BASIC requirements

AGE: Students must be at least 18 years of age to participate.
- EXCEPTION: Riders age 16 - 17 may participate in the Basic RiderCourse or Basic RiderCourse 3-Wheel IF they have a valid driver’s license AND a parent/legal guardian is physically present at check-in on Day 1 to provide written authorization of consent for the minor's participation.
- Basic RiderCourse2 and Advanced RiderCourse (ARC) are not open to riders under 18 years of age, regardless of experience.
HEIGHT: Riders must be able to place both feet flat on the ground, therefore, the recommended minimum height for riding is 5'. If you're unsure whether you meet the height requirement, please contact us. We can schedule a fitting appointment to use one of our training motorcycles and confirm your fit before you register.
BALANCE: Students must have the balance and general ability to ride a bicycle.
PHYSICAL AGILITY: Students must possess the physical stamina, mental alertness, motor skills and coordination necessary to safely operate a motorcycle, including the ability to stabilize and push the motorcycle from a standing position.

Students must have a valid New York State license (Class A, B, C, D, DJ or E) or a motorcycle learner permit, or another state's license that is valid for operation in New York State, or a valid New York State Non-Driver Identification Card (NDID).
A valid license or permit is not suspended, revoked, or in conditional, restricted or hardship status.

Though not required to participate in the MSF Basic RiderCourse and Basic RiderCourse 3-Wheel, a valid motorcycle learner permit is encouraged and will ultimately be required to meet the NYS DMV requirements for motorcycle licensing.
To participate in the MSF Basic RiderCourse2, students must possess a valid M or MJ motorcycle learner permit.
To participate in the MSF Advanced RiderCourse (ARC) students must possess a valid M or MJ motorcycle license.

Students are responsible for arriving on time and prepared with approved safety gear
Students must present a printed MSF Basic eCourse certificate, completed within 30 days of their course start date.
Completion of all required identification and course waivers.

Motorcycles are provided for the Basic RiderCourse and Basic 3-Wheel RiderCourse.
For the Basic RiderCourse2 and the Advanced RiderCourse (ARC), students are required to bring their own street legal motorcycle.
For all training courses, students are required to bring complete riding gear. Reference the Required Gear Checklist.

Motorcycle safety training involves inherent risks. To participate, students must agree to comply with all safety instructions, procedures, and instructor directives throughout the course. Failure to comply with safety requirements will result in immediate removal from the class without refund.
