REQUIRED RIDING GEAR FOR YOUR CLASS
Students must arrive on time, with all required gear available for inspection at check-in. Students will not be unable to participate and course fees will not be refunded if any required items are missing .
helmet

Must be a DOT-approved motorcycle helmet.

Must fit properly.

Must be in good condition with no cracks, excessive wear or damage.

NOT ALLOWED: Bicycle helmets, novelty helmets, no helmet at all.
eye protection

Safety glasses or goggles are required.

Even if your helmet has a face shield, additional eye protection is required whenever the face shield is in the up position.

NOT ALLOWED: sunglasses without safety rating or no eye protection at all.
footwear

Boots must completely cover your ankle.

Must have a hard sole.

Must be sturdy and supportive.

NOT ALLOWED: sneakers, sandals, high heels, slip-ons or canvas shoes.
pants

Must be full-length and reach your boots when seated in the riding position.

Must be made of durable material - denim, canvas or motorcycle riding pants.

NOT ALLOWED: shorts, yoga pants, sweatpants, flare-leg or ripped pants.
SHIRT or jacket

Must be long-sleeve and cover your arms completely.

Sleeves must reach your wrists while in the riding position.

NOT ALLOWED: short-sleeve, sleeveless or ripped shirts.
gloves

Must be full-fingered.

Must fit snuggly for proper grip and control.

Leather recommended for protection.

NOT ALLOWED: fingerless, open-finger, loose-fitting gloves or mittens.
weather-appropriate gear

Hands-on motorcycle training takes place in an open parking lot. The range is uncovered and exposed to all elements and your clasee will take place RAIN-or-SHINE so please come prepared.

SUNSHINE -- bring a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses for personal sun protection, and wear a lightweight, long-sleeve, light-colored shirt to stay cool in direct sun and high temperatures. Do not wear heavy clothing such as sweatshirts, coats, leather, or riding jackets - these trap heat and will quickly lead to overheating and possible heat exhaustion.

RAIN GEAR -- bring a waterproof, hooded rain jacket to stay dry in the event of rain.

COLD WEATHER -- bring extra and dress in layers so you can add/remove as the temperatures change​s.
food and water

Training days have a full schedule with (3) 10-15 minute breaks provided. This is not enough time to leave and return so we suggest you bring plenty of ice, water, and electrolyte-replenishing drinks, along with nourishing food and snacks to stay hydrated and nourished the entire day.​
