Intermediate

age minimum

18 years of age.​ Regardless of experience, the Intermediate course is not open to riders under 18 years of age.​
driver's license

Students must possess a valid (NYS or out-of-state) driver’s license and will be required to present their physical DL card at check-in and have it on-hand for the duration of training.

Driver's licenses must be current, valid and without any suspension, revocation or DUI restrictions.

ID cards and learner permits do not meet our requirements to participate. ​​​​
motorcycle permit / license

For the Intermediate course, students must possess a valid NYS motorcycle permit. ​
required gear / motorcycle

Students use their own street legal motorcycle to participate in the Intermediate course.

Bikes must be in good working mechanical condition with valid registration, inspection and insurance.

At check-in, a Learn 2 Ride instructor will perform an onsite inspection. If a bike does not meet the minimum mechanical requirements, the student will be unable to participate without refund. Please contact Learn 2 Ride to discuss any bike performance questions or concerns before you register.

riding experience

Students must have a minimum 40+ hours riding experience, including at least 10 hours in med-high volume traffic. Starting with the very first exercise, students must possess fundamental riding skills, including throttle and clutch control, straight line riding and offset weaving. ​If a student does not possess the basic skills required for the Intermediate course, they will be counseled out of the course without refund and encouraged to register and pay for the 2-day Beginner course.
timely arrival & preparation

Students are responsible for arriving by the designated course start time, fully prepared and in possession of all necessary course documentation and approved safety gear.

No refunds or credits will be given if a student arrives late or fails to meet all course participation requirements.

Motorcycle safety training involves inherent risks. To participate, students must agree to comply with all safety instructions, procedures, and instructor directives throughout the course. Failure to comply with safety requirements or instructor directives will result in immediate removal from the class, and no refund will be issued.
